Hot take: knowing your Hogwarts house because you grew up with Harry Potter is not the same as supporting the author today. I can have my nostalgia and acknowledge the author and series have a LOT of issues while still knowing I'm a Hufflepuff.

When they say they want to deport our dangerous criminals, all I hear is how they've been trying to classify queer people as "groomers" for years. You really think they're not gonna find excuses to put citizens on those planes, you're fooling yourself.

Working on diversifying my reading further. Last year I made a point of reading more queer books, this year I'm trying to sprinkle in more poetry and short stories.

I'm half convinced the outrage at DEI is displaced frustration with companies saying they're hiring and not actually hiring or letting AI screen the applicants and qualified people not being able to get through due to wording.

Discrimination has never worked before, and its not working now.

When I say I love faerie books I mean Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door by H.G. Parry. Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Song of the Huntress by Lucy Hounsom. I want to feel like the author did their research and didn't just go "boop, fairy"

Sometimes I wonder if the reason I so chaotically refuse to fit the gender binary is because of the level of "this is for boys, that is for girls" and it's literally deodorant

Most of my family has been here since this country was just a collection of colonies. My family has fought in almost every war this country has fought. They've been farmers, mechanics, teachers, soldiers, etc. When I say we need to do better, it is out of love for what this country could be.
