This is disgusting. Academics in Florida are being compelled to censor their work on political grounds if they want to receive basic professional development funding.

Today I had a meeting about funding I received for a November 2025 (!) presentation. Part of the agreement requires me to present the talk at a university-wide event in March 2026. I was told today I could either censor/change my talk’s title and receive the funding, or withdraw. I withdrew.

Precisely. The truth is that sport has never had anything whatsoever to do with fairness. Bodies are different. Resources and access are stratified. Sport *never* matters more than human well-being. And we should never accept the premise that losing at sport is an actual commensurate form of harm.

A very scary bill just passed in Ohio for transgender folks. No one but local LGBTQ+ orgs are talking about it. First, Ohio is only recognizing sex assigned at birth, male or female. You can get in trouble for stating otherwise on documents, I imagine. I may need to change my state ID back. 1/5
