It was striking to me as I wrote this breaking thread, it's about a Labour government's activity. Aside from the 'new section 28' furore, this will rightly spark: Erasing transgender as a word is a travesty and insult to the millennia-old history of Trans+ communities, whom we owe so much

I founded @transhistoryweek.com because I was angry that Trans+ people had been erased from The Holocaust story. My schooling under Section 28 did teach me of The Holocaust and the book burnings… but the books being burned were not explained to be from the world’s first Trans+ clinic.

I just want to make an observation. The biggest LGBTQIA+ mass lobby in history in the UK was organised by a Trans+ led org. With minimal funding. And a heap of volunteer energy. There are much more well funded LGBTQIA+ orgs that haven’t stepped up with this level of ambition.

An estimated 900 Trans+ people and allies turned up at Westminster, making it the largest LGBTQIA+ lobby on record 🙌 @transsolidarity.bsky.social
