Besides our near catastrophic collision with a load of Lime batteries, we were fascinated to see hundreds of Paramount Theater visitors lined up over I-5 and being exposed to freeway noise and fumes. Seems like a lid park here could solve that and be a good place to hang out before a show.

Join Lid I-5 for a community picnic on Saturday, August 16, 2:00 PM - 4:00 at Plymouth Pillars Park (1050 Pike Street). Celebrate a temporary reprieve from the roar of I-5 traffic due to the weekend closure of all northbound lanes. Bring a blanket or chair and some snacks to share.

How much of downtown Seattle is just queueing space for the freeway?

We braved wind and rain with the community to check out the new Montlake Lid and walk/bike bridge. The project is a great addition to the non-motorized and transit networks but still feels like a very suburban environment with leftover landscaping and a lot of concrete and asphalt.

One of the takeaways I have from our historical streetcar neighborhoods is that letting private land speculators build transit worked. So... We should absolutely let our transit agencies do this.
