When you've mostly finished a couple pages for your comic and you have to step back and sigh and finally accept the gnawing feeling that there is a much much better and more effective layout you absolutely need to go with, and you just digitally crumple em up and head back to da drawing board

I've been trying to find a good time to bring this up, but: When shifting from posting fanart to more original art/comics, you're lucky if even a fraction of your followers engage with it. I was prepared for that. What I WASN'T prepared for was how little other original artists engage w/ each other.

When I was told why an artist would never engage with other artists on platforms like this I felt so sad for them. Was always people with an audience and gained everyday from others engaging with them also tryed to get others not to do so and just felt so bad.

I've had the time to read more webcomics lately, and I've noticed a trend of competently & interestingly written comics, using subtle, visual storytelling to convey plot points, characterisation, worldbuilding, and foreshadowing... which is immediately undermined by pointing it all out textually

LRT: especially someone making original work, whether it's character design or an ongoing story or individual art pieces. Likes and comments are wonderful & indispensable but the most impactful gift you can give is to share their work, both on social media and with your friends
