Multiple organizers I trust who have been a regular presence at Broadview are advising folks not to protest there tonight. For a number of reasons, they are worried that fatal force could be used against protesters tonight. They are calling for folks to regroup and return Friday morning.

For anyone still questioning the level of control Israel has and exerts over Gaza (and for anyone thinking fundraisers must be scams because Palestinians in Gaza can't possibly have cell service):

It's been clear from the treatment of Palestinian accounts on here that moderation standards are applied selectively, not uniformly and without bias, and @moderation.bsky.app @safety.bsky.app letting this disinformation targeting trans people stay up is the latest example.

This shows how shallow (or warped) the thinking of pundits is. George Floyd was killed by the state. That was the salience to protestors, and the motivation was to change the actions of the state. Kirk was not the victim of systemic state violence, but they somehow imagine he was.

The clerks where I get my lunch said a man came in last week and asked them where the public entrance to 26 Federal Plaza was. He locked his bike outside, and it’s been there since.

Whatever version of America comes out of this, it has to be one where we ensure that people who could gleefully subject other human beings to treatment like this can never rise to power again.
