+1 to everything said by people in thread, but also remembering many, many hours going to friends' houses (or having them over) to make tapes from their/our collections (& their parents' collections in a few cases!), or even just learning by thumbing through. was a great excuse to hang & listen!

For all the time I worked in radio, scarfing up anything that I could find, somebody would always come around with something I didn’t ever even knew existed and blew my shit away. This was kind of a daily experience, too.
