I will say, this is a GREAT time to practice Internet law if you're thinking about law school. The recent social media verdicts are going to usher in a new wave of social media litigation we haven't seen before. The floodgates are open. 💰

As expected, @masnick.com gets it: There's honestly nothing good about the Meta/Google judgement. This judgement announced "open season" to sue _any_ platform on the web at the worst possible time. Before this _maybe_ gets sorted out in appellate court, we could all be screwed.

Maybe I am the only one but I mostly love my Mac Cheese Grater. I use the pci slots for 4TB solid state drives and it’s so quiet I stopped having to put the computer in a server closet to record cello. I say “mostly love” because Apple started messing things up on the Mac Pro with each new OS

And it TOTALLY had its own problems that people mostly forget about. It was Weimar social media. It was exuberantly propelling towards the entire system's decline

Here's the thing: there is no going back to a different era of Twitter. This doesn't replace it, Threads doesn't replace it, Twitter doesn't replace it. That era is dead, no return, it was a very fun 5-10 year window or so that dragged on past its prime until it dropped off a cliff.

One more thing: Technology is a tool. It's never an answer. And it's absolutely freakin' amazing how many people who work in technology _still_ l don't get that.

Making this clear: I left. I didn't "retire." No buyout; in fact, offers made to keep me there. Personal financial consequences for leaving. I still walked. People & Principles Matter. And I don't have to work for corporations who think they don't.

One of these days, I'll detail why I left my media day job - I mean, I was the back-stop keeping them alive. Two months ago, corporate called me in the midst of a (predicted) meltdown and offered me whatever I wanted to come back. Sorry. Political & "cost-cutting" decisions do have consequences.

Two years of negotiations & they _still_ won't budge? I mean, the AI clause is a freakin' no-brainer. Rejecting restrictions on slop generation for an organization that has reported on the issue is a stunner. Sorry @propublica.org, but i'm freezing our contribution until this gets settled fairly.
