AI being shoved down our throats everywhere is exhausting, but I believe it's genuinely a positive signal. Tech companies aren't doing this because it's successful technology that is making them money. They're doing it because it's not and they're not. This is an extinction burst, not real growth.

One thing I've been doing for my mental health is watching people (on YT) watch my fav movies for the 1st time. Watching a gaggle of dudes in their 20s discover My Neighbor Totoro, or your average (not screenwriter-brained) couple watch and discuss The Blair Witch Project is eye-opening &wholesome.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work.
