This is how I see the different eras of FNAF. 1-4 is the Golden Era, named after Golden Freddy. The Silver Eyes marks the Silver Era which is when the books were thrown into the fray. And after Ultimate Custom Night we have the Steel Era named after the current developers Steel Wool Studios.

Recently I was introduced to Five Nights at Freddy's and have played through the original tetralogy, but before moving on to the next games and their novels I wanted to take this time to put together my own theory taking into account everything that I've learned without any knowledge of future lore.
