Wow! Listen to this list of acts of political violence. It’s not even complete, but sobering AF. Now, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed in front of a crowd, and the video is all over social media. This needs to stop.

Both of the co-founders of Turning Point USA died from things that were preventable, but which they mocked and urged this nation to ignore. Bill Montgomery was killed in 2020 by COVID and Charlie Kirk was killed in 2025 by gun violence.

Charlie Kirk’s death is awful and abhorrent but it’s appalling that the President is calling for national mourning for a right wing propagandist and hasn’t said a word about Officer David Rose or the brave employees at the CDC

At least two students have been shot at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The motivation of the man who shot Charlie Kirk isn't clear (although he's probably mentally unstable--duh). What is clear is it was another example of American gun violence.

There’s a way to be respectful in reporting on Charlie Kirk being shot while also refusing to whitewash who he was and what consequences his political activism has had. Obituaries for public figures are a part of history.

We have a bit of a natural experiment here. Compare the tone, quantity and duration of Charlie Kirk coverage with that of the two Dem lawmakers gunned down in their homes in Minnesota 6 months ago. May be revealing.

Judging by the shamefully opportunistic & politicizing rhetoric of some rightwingers on Twitter, & their cynical use of Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder for political point scoring, it’s almost as if Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman wasn’t murdered by a Trump-voting MAGA maniac just 12 weeks ago.

Today’s act of political violence in Utah against Charlie Kirk is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. We don’t have to agree on everything, but we should all agree on this: political violence is wrong, and has no place in our democracy

I strongly condemn the tragic, politically charged violence that claimed the life of Charlie Kirk today at Utah Valley University. No cause or ideology can ever justify taking a life. This is a reprehensible attack on free speech and civic dialogue.
