The research is clear: Cities have many reliable ways to curtail speeding. Lower the posted limit. Deploy traffic cameras. Insert speed humps. Install road diets. They all work – and most residents support them.But implementation often feels like pulling teeth. In Bloomberg, I explored why.

They keep choosing to go further each year.

The fact that European vehicle safety standards have gotten so much better than the U.S.'s that it has become this major international trade bargaining chip is a tragedy. The safety of drivers, passengers, bicyclists, children, pedestrians, it shouldn't be negotiable! These groups are correct!
