Gilmour Space had an interesting anomaly in the leadup to their first launch. The payload fairing was inadvertently triggered and separated on the pad. This is something that I've never seen in any rocket, and in my view raises some concerns about the quality control present at Gilmour Space.

I'm not quite sure of the commercial prospects of dedicated in-orbit data processing constellations (certainly in the West I can only remember individual sat demos so far) but downlink bandwidth is indeed an issue & the Chinese have aspirations of building up this to 1000 sats!

AFAIK there are 2 bigger & 10 smaller sats that receives data from other satellites via laser & conventional links, do initial processing (here comes the AI pitch) before sending back to Earth to overcome data transfer bottlenecks. Not a new idea but not mature in the West yet...

Sigh, how do I translate yet another bombastic sounding Chinese satellite names again? This LM-2D was successfully launched @ 04:12 UTC w/ 12 satellites from ADASPACE, forming a certain "Space-Computing Constellation" that will test in-orbit data processing for other satellites.

From m.weibo.cn/detail/51656... - as the LM-3C are more or less just the -3B minus 2 boosters, it will continue to be made along its larger version. Tough to tell whether more launches will occur with the LM-8 series (especially the -8A) in operation, but cost may still give it edge.

4 launches of 9 of these generically named satellites occurred in 2023 & to my understanding these were prototypes by different state & private satellite builders (IIRC, CAST/CAS/Changguang etc.). Maybe they plan multiple classified constellations a la SDA/NRO in the US?
