With Artemis II approaching I know a lot of news outlets are starting to look for in depth photos and knowledge of this mission. I have a significant backlog of photos already available from the Artemis Program and will be on site covering the mission in the lead up to the launch in February.

Expect some cool news regarding Gateway in the coming days. Lots of progress has been made on the first two modules, the Power and Propulsion Element and the Habitat And Logistics Outpost. Still a fair ways to go to launch but its coming together quite nicely now.

Some notes here for Artemis II's SLS rocket and the changes made after Artemis I. The most notable ones are a set of strakes around the SRB attachment points to dampen air induced vibrations, and moving booster sep forward by about 4 seconds to add ~725kg of additional payload capacity.

Photos released today by NASA show SLS Core Stage 3s LOX tank being moved out of its cleaning and baffle cell to its final assembly point before its integration with the skirt and intertank in a few weeks. More notably however is the start of CS4 barrel welding behind it in the VAC!

USF Beating Florida is an absolutely *beautiful* sight this Saturday night. I may be a UCF fan, but that team across I-4 has got something special going right now.

8 down 8 to go! Most of the remaining scenes are blocked out and about half of them have their music. Still 2 scenes I am in early work on with but the scenes on either end of them are finished and they are connective more than anything so should see significant work this week!

The Engine Section for SLS Core Stage 4, currently slated to launch the Artemis IV mission, has been moved to the VAB to continue processing. This component had previously been worked on at the nearby Space Systems Processing Facility.

A post on LinkedIn from Rajeev Badyal seems to be showing one of the Kuiper Enterprise Terminals hitting gigabit download speeds from the satellite constellation. If this is done with a single dish that is an impressive figure and to my knowledge the fastest ever done with a "consumer" system.

The Launch Abort System Tower has been stacked atop the Artemis II Orion Capsule. This structure contains 3 solid rocket motors, 2 of which would be used in an emergency to separate the crew capsule from the SLS rocket. The third motor is the jettison motor which separates the LAS from the capsule.

Bechtel has published some photos of the umbilical arms for Mobile Launcher 2 now installed onto the tower. The launcher is on track to be completed this year, allowing it to begin commissioning next year. It will move to LC-39B for the first time shortly after the Artemis II launch.

Currently holding at T-40 seconds, there is an anvil cloud currently too close to the rocket for launch. Vehicle is currently fully fueled and in a ready state to fly if they get a go ahead.

SpaceX has also already received 2.7 billion of their HLS contract, which was initially valued at 2.9 billion

"Now let's talk about Mars" the hosts say on the SpaceX livestream, but let's not say a word about the $4 billion contracts we hold with NASA to send astronauts to the Moon

And now they are advertising the Tesla Diner right now. This is one of the worst launch broadcasts I have ever watched.

In this broadcast Musk has only talked about Starship being used for Mars or Point To Point, they have yet to discuss any actual viable use cases for the vehicle today despite being contracted to conduct the NASA HLS landing in <2 years time.

Listening to the #IFT10 Coverage, Mr. Musk is giving his talk about colonizing Mars and setting up a huge city there and encountering extraterrestrial life, but as a taxpayer who's footing the bill for some of this..I'd like to hear about my lunar lander for my Artemis program.

This is not a scientific measure by any means but I have an absolutely wretched feeling in my gut about this flight of Starship. There is something in my head setting off alarm bells in a way that makes me a lot more worried than "just" a launch failure. Hopefully everyone stays safe today.

SpaceX is preparing to launch the 10th flight test of the Starship-Superheavy rocket. This is the fourth attempted flight this year and comes on the heels of three consecutive failures and a ship explosion during ground testing.

It's very interesting to see certain space pundits now pushing the "China is going to land first" stories and using it against SLS and Orion. I can't help but be reminded of a certain lunar lander falling critically behind right now for a 2027/8 lunar landing.

In exciting news, I have now finalized 3 of the scenes of the documentary I've been working on! I was originally hoping to release last year but major burnout hit me at the wrong time for it to get done, but this summer has been insanely productive for it! Hope to have an official release date soon!

This is devastating, and part of a larger move to entirely push science out of NASA's mission. It is horrific betrayal of so much work, not to mention the fact that it violates NASA's charter.

SpaceX has released some details on the Starship Flight 9 failure and Ship 36 explosion. Another fuel leak in the ship resulted in the loss of Flight 9. Ship 36 was destroyed due to a COPV failure likely from mishandling prior to or during installation. www.spacex.com/updates#flig...
