Left Alaska to go back to the East Coast to visit my partners Mom, to unfortunately say goodbye. Staying by the Lake where we have stayed for the last 4 yrs.

Finally finished helping out a fellow artist by hand sewing 47 rawhide pouches over the last week. Nice to learn a new skill. Now back to my own work that is due soon.

Went the beach this AM to celebrate getting older. Now I'm sitting by the fire, drinking PBR and waiting on some fresh beans and Spot Shrimp. Yum.

It has been a busy Summer. We grow most of our own food and put most of it up. Lots of branching and freezing and canning. The gardens and greenhouses are now empty, so its time for Art.

Our Sandhill Cranes are back. They have come back for the last several years to nest in the woods

Was just saying the other day it's been awhile. Just had a good shaker.

Joy...something we often forget about.

Took too much time with garden stuff so splitting wood was put off. Much nicer day today. We don't swing an axe, we use a small splitter. There is something oddly satisfying about the sounds and smells of breaking wood apart.

Happy Earth Day. To celebrate I will be planting Broccoli, thinning Cukes, and transplanting Jalapeños. Then it's on to splitting wood. Oh boy.

We live a somewhat subsistence lifestyle up here in Kasilof, Alaska. It's my full time job and the inspiration for my last 2 photography shows This one is about Salmon Smoking and will be presented next year. Had a Snow and Art day and created this piece that will go to Anchorage next week.

It's been snowing more this Spring than all Winter. But my herbs are going crazy, my peppers are doing great. And all of the corn came up. Tomatoes are just peaking out. Cukes and Sunflowers to be planted this weekend.
