Nine NFL players under 48 have died this year. NINE. And twenty under the age of 65. I'm looking into it for a longer article. But I'm taking to bluesky to say that I cannot believe - or maybe its just too easy to believe - that in our NFL obsessed sports media culture, this is not a bigger story.

For perspective: There were 8 special elections for Mississippi Senate yesterday and 2 for Mississippi House. Mississippi Democrats flipped 2 of the 4 GOP-held Senate seats that were on the ballot and the sole GOP-held House seat that was on the ballot. Democrats held the other 5 seats.

Lairmore testifies that other agents gave him a plush sandwich toy, which he placed on the shelf in his office, and a patch that said "Felony Footlong," which he put on his lunch box. Lairmore has chuckled with the rest of us at times. Defense really trying to underscore the unseriousness of it all
