Tangentially related to my previous post, I don't think there should be One App To Rule Them All. In a way, I feel like the internet needs to be splintered back into just friend groups vibing with each other again. If not forums, then just community-based Matrix instances, or something.

i think during this time of uncertainty it's important to remember that even discord was once the new alternative everyone was skeptical of. it took my own personal friend group a good few months to actually migrate to it, and even then only because Skype got unusably shitty.
