Uche came on today with a purpose. Bassey had been dominating in defence and Uche went in to destabilise him. And it worked. They stopped having it so easy in defence. They stopped being able to push up on our midfield. Uche is raw but I can see something about him. He’s not afraid. That helps.

Think back to that day in May. From memory, when did you think Marc Guehi went off injured? 70th minute? 80th? 85th? Nope. 61st minute. Basically 40 mins without our best CB! Makes that defensive performance even more remarkable! And shows the class of Lerma too. He did a great job.

Ebere Eze was the first of a new kind of Palace signings. Young, talented and hungry, he brought guile, exuberance and confidence into a Palace team so reliant on Wilfried Zaha for sparks of magic. Brilliant on the ball, graceful off it with a wicked shot — he gave us an edge.

The thought of Ebs going fills us with sadness. He’s been an incredible ambassador for Palace, a magical player to watch and a consummate professional who did all he could for us. The scorer of our winning goal in the FA Cup. What an honour to have seen him in red and blue.

Our mission now, as a fanbase, is to get behind our team with such strong support that they go all the way to the final, so we can shove our absolute hatred of UEFA and their poorly drafted rules right down Ceferin and his cronies throats.

Wishing Steve Parish and everyone attending CAS on behalf of Palace good luck in their mission to convince the court of the wrongdoing of UEFA at today’s hearing. We beat City against the odds to win the FA Cup so we can beat the odds to win this case too.
