Our
#bear

There had been news of a

in our area, so I put up a camera behind our house. Within two hours we saw him! Big, beautiful black bear - we're giving him space 😱

A key lesson of the last year of building open models, once it became so obvious the US is behind, is that talk is cheap. Many people say they're helping / want to help but actually don't do anything. Finding the few people who genuinely push open forward is crucial.

The thing is the *entire internet* is different now than it was a decade ago (and, largely, not for the better). All of this is interrelated and there's no going *backwards* only forward. So work for a better future, don't angle for a return to an idealized past.

Here's the thing: there is no going back to a different era of Twitter. This doesn't replace it, Threads doesn't replace it, Twitter doesn't replace it. That era is dead, no return, it was a very fun 5-10 year window or so that dragged on past its prime until it dropped off a cliff.
