Finishing up a spontaneous reverb plugin. It's meant as 'the most low-CPU awesome reverb you could have' and uses the surprising 4x4 matrix I found. Very stripped down, uses stepped undersampling and stepped filtering and the cleanest possible sound. I think it's got a strong vibe to it.

And it's not fair to count Fetterman because he is an OBVIOUS graham plattner

I'm firing up the woodstove again. It's rainy, and dark, and gonna be cold tonight and tomorrow, and I'm doing something on a livestream tomorrow so I figure I'll get a head start on not freezing :) Also, got a pepperoni pizza at my local place. NOM. And then I can make two stacks of firelighters.

On the work front, though this week is to be more low-key, I ran more reverb generation of 4x4 (simple, traditional) reverbs. Just hit on one with the highest peak/RMS reading I've EVER seen… and it passed my 'incompressibility' tests. Might be making a 'low-CPU' reverb out of it.

mkay, three things. One, the ChimeyDeluxe video (text tangent on drums this time!). Two, experiments in 4x4 reverbs, see how they went. Randomly gonna throw some plain 4x4 matrices into my reverb making system, to see if all the work I've been doing on 6x6es with early reflection matrices will translate to a much simpler, purer thing. Very curious to see what happens :)

I'm getting my phone absolutely bombed into submission by a range of numbers in Essex Junction, VT. Turns out it is just 451F ONVOY, LLC which means it's (a) AI voice over IP and (b) malicious. Figuring out if it will hurt them to pick up and refuse to engage in any way. Does that cost them money?

Had a couple hours, did a jam for demonstrating ChimeyDeluxe. Weak but fun: comes off like old Grateful Dead, everything one take as there was no time. Also using various not-out-yet plugins but ALL the guitars and the bass are ChimeyDeluxe to the extreme, just for fun :)

After hours of hassle and dumbness I debugged ChimeyDeluxe and announce the birth of a bouncing baby bass-amp :) seriously: crank out certain kinds of midranginess and it makes a bassline twang like a rubber band. Hilariously bouncy. Exactly what I wanted from it. (does guitars, synths too)

I'm gonna do reverb algo generating this morning, AND making VSTs out of ConsoleH (cumbersome!) and save debugging ChimeyDeluxe for the stream. Can't wait to show how I go after irritating weird DSP bugs cropping up in seemingly literally the same code as working code that's fine.

Hammering away at a revision to ChimeyDeluxe so I can use it as my bass amp, and I've run into a huge problem with the VST. Multiple ones really, fixed one, stuck on another. So Thursday will be that. Livestream begins with 'this is demonstrably broken. What do?', live, on stream. Then, fix.

As of today I have the FULL CONSOLE H CHAIN built and working in the first format I have to make (retro AU), and did some very silly things with it on stream. Next, generic VST, and then I have a couple months to get the full-fledged GUI-enabled version to work. Full speed ahead! :D

Got through the morning reverb rendering in about three hours or so, now to evaluate them (quicker), get a shower, get ready to stream to good people and trolls alike. I got to respond to a troll on the SoftClock2 video with positivity, in earnest, so that was kinda cool. Costs of opportunities…

Well THAT was DUMB. The tarp for my firewood I bought just this year degraded and ripped asunder. Thankfully not during rain. I had to run out and buy a replacement (different color! The 'ultra heavy duty' color was lies!) and repair it, rather than working. Still have to do SoftClock2.

kWoodRoom has its final tweaks and modifications and it's done, tested, built for everything except the signed Mac M1 builds. SoftClock2 is what's coming out, and I've got none of the packaging-into-all-those-downloads done, but I'm certain I'll be able to do it by the end of the day <3

Up at 5:30 except it says 4:30, getting together the SoftClock2 video and stuff. I got caught up in making the wood room reverb and left a lot of SoftClock for today, but turns out I should still be able to get it done :)

Up at five and here it is at 9:30 and I've got the morning's reverb evaluating done. And something new happened: this morning one of the small rooms sounded distinctly like a wood room :) tempted to jump immediately on that and make it be one of my reverbs. Wondering if I can make it be more so…

I have carried in a big ol' rack of firewood to replace that which I've burned over the last month or so. First of the season! Here's hoping my woodpile stays dry and is manageable through winter. New tarps, and the back edge is tacked down with plastic stakes to aid dryness.

Bogging down in the detail of the prototype ConsoleX2 revision, so I'll be picking that back up on the livestream tomorrow. Serves as something to do, at any rate :) might also begin the prototype generic-interface ConsoleH. Just to get the parts together and begin playing with them…

Doing some extra work on the prototype ConsoleX2. I need to have a gain trim up front made from BitShiftGain, and I need to put the 'more' section right up front after that, so I can use it to have mix elements 'coming from tape' or a facsimile. In fact I'll swap its position on my control surface.

Up at 2 AM because this is peak 'brain demons' season (if biorhythm 'brain go whirr' coincide with 'dark thoughts', ain't good) but on the bright side the whirr served me up an idea for re-doing an old video game I made in Unity. I use Godot now, and I think I can reinvent what I did but better :)

Anybody who downloaded this week's HipCrush plugin and wanted to use the standalone Windows 64-bit dll… I've just learned I didn't flip the correct switch (nearly every week it's flawless, this time I slipped) and it was 32 bit by mistake. I've just fixed it, re-download if you would like a real 64b

WHOOF. Multiple half-hour video shooting sessions, and the main plugin video failed, not due to me or the camera, but because the screen capture failed and only got 15 seconds. Running Disk First Aid, let's see if we can actually diagnose the problem.

And now I've got the reverbs made and rendered out and evaluated, and even got a good one out of it. I'm holding out for a smaller room but it's going pretty well, still managing to beat all previous reverb plugins I've made, each time. Which is good since recent ones have been hard to beat.

Grinding out more reverb algorithms whilst distracted by current events. I'd like to think I can be as good as @paulwarburg.bsky.social at figuring some of these things out, so how things look this morning, in a mini-thread. Ugly but not without grounds for hope, I'd say.

So, earlier this afternoon I fixed intermittency and bad connections in my Roland Alpha Juno in two separate ways, FULLY restoring it to service. It's my 'syn-lead-guitar' synth but I've wanted to use it for more things. As of today, nothing's stopping me. Rewards of persistence :)
