Once again, no one chooses to become disabled. It’s not a moral failing or something a person can “try harder” and avoid. You are not owed our medical history or an explanation. You are not the arbiter of who’s disabled “enough”.

Your art isn’t bad just because it’s not selling right now. We’re in a recession and people don’t know when they’re gonna eat next, nobody can afford fun things because the economy is crumbling. It’s going to be hard a while.

Quick reminder: It’s expensive to be disabled. Premade & prepackaged food is always more expensive, but disability can make it impossible to cook regularly/meal prep properly. Co-pays and medication costs add up very quickly. Items to make your living space accessible can get pricey. And so on.

Disabled people almost always are feeling worse than they'll tell you. Their symptoms are almost always worse than you know about. What you see is never the full story.

Disabled people can’t “just leave” the US. It’s not a question of them “trying harder”. It’s a lack of resources, money and physical health combined with the fact that most countries won’t allow disabled people in. We must fight to ensure no one is left behind.

Being disabled costs a lot more than not being disabled. Disabled folk are more likely to be in poverty, and many aren't allowed to accrue any savings. So they have to resort to expensive, often unregulated, credit to survive... Costing even more. It's a horrible reality.
