Hey so if capitalism means we need to have constant gains for shareholders then that means private prison companies like GEO Group have to have profits go up even as crime goes down. Ergo, immigration sweeps, new categories of crime to feed the machine. Idk guys seems like a bad system

Conservatives and the rightwing are primarily interested in rationales for domination; insofar as a culture can be created from that, it will have no core, no load-bearing values, and in time, diminishing reach.

This is probably a consequence of the circles I travel in academically, but I am always shocked when people claim expertise in a topic they know nothing about beyond the superficial state propaganda line. Know that itās okay to not know everything. You canāt. But donāt posture like you do.

It does kinda suck that we could live in a really cool world and we donāt because we have to make the line go up. Like the US could absolutely have Chinese-level cities and infrastructure and we donāt. We could have universal healthcare and education. But we donāt bc ššš

Gonna go ahead and put my bet in now that after Trump passes, Melania et. al are going to put out tell-all books about how they never liked him but were all scared. And the people who thought Liz Cheney was great for Dems will eat that shit up.

One of the things bothering me about how people are responding to the Epstein files is that there are tons of conspiracies being created and spread about whatās in them, rather than people just believing the victims like they could have been doing for years now

I will say gently: every famous counter sit-in from the Civil Rights era was a crime. Nonviolent civil disobedience is quite literally and explicitly a strategy where you commit crimes.

IMO, petty in-fighting, territorial behavior, snark, sneering, and general bitchiness is inherently baked in to activist movements. But the difference is that itās way easier to SEE all of that now - because unlike in earlier movements, a lot of this infighting plays out on public social media.

I genuinely wonder how anyone reads the news without a materialist/class-based analytical framework. Sadly, it appears the overwhelming majority of Americans read it from a good vs. evil framework. In this, liberals and conservatives are the same, they just assign labels differently.

The most insane thing to me about this Epstein stuff is the women who knew about this. Not the victims, but the women who were willingly in his orbit, or married to those who were. What made you think you would be safe? Youāre just like plantation mistresses. You knew what was happening.
