#ArtAdventCalendar Day 23 is this bead embroidered panel from KC Green’s Gunshow comic. The most famous panel is the dog only beginning to ignite while saying “This is fine.” but this one seemed more apropos for 2025. 🔥 This was completed with 11/0 delicas and 15/0 seed beads.

Back at this and accepting that it is just going to look absolutely wild until it’s done (and maybe then as well!)

Sculpture by Korean artist Do Ho Suh, 2010s-20s, whose fabric structures recreate the places he has lived, reflecting on broader concepts of migration and what makes a "home".

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 22 is my portrait of Inky! I wanted to highlight this embroidery because capturing features with black fur is a challenge and the reference image was small and lower quality so I’m extra pleased with how she turned out! 🖤

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 20 is another #Caturday offering: three portraits in one! I stitched this for a friend who had adopted these three brothers and it was my first multi-portrait and to that point the largest hoop I’d ever used!

I finished all my Christmas commissions of bugs which means I can get back to painting a lot of bug! I love doing these bigger collection paintings and watching kids try to identify them all.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 19 is one of the more eccentric pet portraits I’ve done because the subject was wearing a wig, pearls, and a little coat! I love how the turkey work brought the coat to life! 💗

My final bib is a Chinook salmon from the Klamath River! These have had a resurgence after recent dam removals and are a classic Oregon symbol. I love how the light pink border really sets this fellow off!

I am furious at the US government’s latest attempt to eradicate trans people and punish those that provide them care so #ArtAdventCalendar Day 18 is a beaded pair of trans flag hearts. The hearts are edged in beads representative of each member of the couple that I created this piece for. 🩷🏳️‍⚧️💚

These coalesced around the same time but AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (1951) and the work of the Impressionists, especially Monet and Van Gogh, absolutely enthralled me around age 10. The idea of being an artist (in France in particular) got me into painting and now a bunch of different media!

I've been keeping this pretty under wraps because I didn't want it to somehow get around to her, but I've finally finished the embroidery painting I made as a Christmas gift for my bestie~ I gave it to her yesterday, and she loved it 💚💚💚 [ #Embroidery | #ThreadPainting | #Handmade | #MyArt ]
