I really thought Hermeto would live forever. I did a gig in his big band at the Barbican.. he amused my daughter with his watch, which made a different bird noise for each hour. The Brazilian ambassador was at the gig. At the end, I blew so hard I had a nosebleed and collapsed. That's jazz.
