#566 Watched The Misfits today in the anniversary of its remade. A real gut punch of a film for reasons in the film and the star's lives outside of the film. Gable & Monroe's last film and one of Clift's final pictures too. Enjoyed the pro-animal stance by Monroe's character, progressive for 1961.

D.W. Griffith's follow-up picture & costly flop was Intolerance. It played in Denver starting on May 18, 1917 at the Broadway Theater (RIP) in the Metropole Hotel (RIP). The Broadway held 1,624 & was torn down along w/the hotel in the 50's to make way for I.M. Pei's Mile High Center @ 1700 Broadway.

Way back in the olden days of 2006 we could still light & color a movie scene. Now thanks to Netfux it's all a wash.

Lived in quite a few apts in the 90s decked out in rattan furniture. #classy

D.W. Griffith's hateful blockbuster Birth of a Nation came to Denver on Dec. 12, 1915. It played at the Tabor Grand which held 1,500. Tickets were 25 cents to $2 which is $8 to $64 in 2025 $. Many folks protested the picture's pro-KKK stance and they were 100% right. Look at that tagline in the ad.
