A new species for me spotted off the docks in Tacoma, WA: Micronereis nanaimoensis. This female had a BUNCH of males hooked into her back end to stimulate her to lay eggs😱It was SO cool to see!

Swima bombiviridis—because sometimes, the best way to escape oppression is to drop a glowing distraction and peace out. These deep-sea worms eject bioluminescent “bombs” to confuse predators while they make a clean getaway. Resistance, but make it ✨dramatic✨. 🌊🪱

Much to my delight, I read that the Northern Horse Mussel is referred to as the “clappy-doo” mussel in some parts of the world. It also has a fun to say scientific name, Modiolus modiolus.

The red-eyed medusa, Polyorchis pencillatus, depends on the health of our nearshore eelgrass habitats. When eelgrass habitat declines, so does the population of these beautiful jellies.

Reminder - the 5 Calls App provides scripts, telephone numbers, and connects you to your politicians really easily. Make calls/comments and tell them you disapprove of what's happening. Political offices track key words/themes in these calls. Overwhelm them. Make it known you don't agree.
