That's football. Shit happens. Gabriel? The best player tonight. This said, whoever is rejoicing in the success of a club built on the money of a dictatorship holding together through the systematic exploitation of 90% of its population should take some time to reflect on their world view. Bisous!

I know there’s a narrative around everyone hates us and we don’t care - Milwall style - NW Media Mafia etc - but I’ve experienced such spontaneous positivity it’s been lovely!

It’s been quite amazing bombing around the West End today wearing Phillip’s Bergkamp Highbury shirt. Lots of people in Arsenal shirts - some not - some not even Arsenal fans at all - either nodding and smiling or stopping to say congratulations.

Was nodding along to Arsecast Extra earlier, I think the stress of the league campaign is so much that we might win the UCL by accident.

Denjiro Okochi was directed by Kurosawa in the century old film studios in Uzumasa on the outskirts of Kyoto. Kurosawa also shot Throne of Blood and Rashomon here. It’s still a centre of Jidaigeki films.

Would highly recommend this superb slippery metatext. You Are The Fuhrer’s Unrequited Love is half way between fiction and history. The first two thirds are Speer’s POV of his relationship with Hitler. The final third is Sereny’s relationship with Speer.

Reread Albert Camus’ L’Etranger for the first time since my teenage years, having just watched the superb new Francois Ozon movie adaptation The Stranger. Stunningly well written. Feels fresh and vital still.

Just read Lena Dunham’s superb memoir Famesick in one go. If anyone would like my copy let me know. Could be triggering if you’d have had chronic health problems. Just so honest and open and beautifully written.

Thoroughly enjoyed California Schemin’. Genuinely funny and fast paced and more depth than I had expected. Will have to watch the Netflix doc The Great Hip Hop Hoax now too. Will definitely watch anything James McAvoy directs next.

Really loved The Drama. Kind of film that makes me wish there were more published black film critics out there. Lots of interesting issues to discuss not least the bitterly accurate commentary on America’s toxic culture in general and Karens in particular.

Chelsea can no longer finish above Arsenal which is odd because I thought they had won the title when they beat us 1-1 before Christmas.

How much more iconic would this have been if Adrien Brody had shouted out “Where’s Wallace” at the end of Michael B Jordan’s Oscar speech?

I feel like Odessa A’Zion needs to ditch the black curly wig and let her natural beauty shine through. She is stunning but her looks wear her. She should be dressing young edgy fresh like Rachel Sennott. I think her best I Love La looks are probably styled by Rachel.

I cant help but feel Misty Copeland dancing in the Sinners musical number is a justified fuck you to Timothee. As more obviously is the Timothee “bum drum” skit. The Academy elders are literally spanking his ass for being a douchebag.

Nothing really wowed me on the Oscars red carpet. All the ladies played it so so safe and bland. Even Teyanna Taylor. Odessa A’Zion needs to sack her stylist - she looked shambolic. Wagner Moura wins the male red carpet but I love Leo who just sticks to classic classy Black Tie.

Conan’s opening monologue superb! Overall I am content with the results ex Amy Madigan. That feels more like a Lifetime Character Actor Award. Haven’t seen the film though as I am a total wimp for horror.

Timothee Chalemet chose to punch down committed artists who will never earn millions or get fashion endorsements. He could have used his audience to uplift fellow artists. He chose to belittle them. Stupid and pathetic. Jog. On.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Timothee Chalamet being truly exposed as a cunt this weekend. The endless trolling is making me smile. Signed - Bedfordshire Youth Opera Contralto 1992-1995.

And for my final rage comment - this sort of racism is precisely why we need people of all socio-economic and racial backgrounds making films. Emerald Fennell read Nelly tell Heathcliff his father “was Emperor of China and your mother an Indian Queen” and still envisioned him as white. Fuck me.

Diary of a failed cineaste. 1. Attempted Voice of Hind Rajab. Pussied out/not sure we should be restaging an actual kid’s snuff audio. 2. Tried The Housemaid but it’s a sat-am 2nd screen watch. 3. Now Chronology of Water. It’s like that art college film in Ghost World. 4. I watch Dunk and Egg.
