I watched City of Lost Children tonight for the first time since seeing it the cinema 30 years ago. Holds up well in all its Gilliamesque craziness. Does it count as a Christmas movie? #filmsky

#MartySupreme is a bloody good time. A kinetic gonzo caper that doesn’t shy away from post-war trauma and ugly narcissistic characters. So many quickly essayed but memorable side characters. A masterful pairing of an 80s synth score with the 50s setting.

Sentimental Value is quite remarkable. Best female lead since Jessie Buckley in Hamnet. Quite remarkable score too. Quietly devastating.

I love I Love LA. Rachel Sennott is so consistently brilliant in everything she does.

Finally finished #Hedda. I stand by my decision to walk out. A lot of bold choices being made by Nia DaCosta so she shows courage. But those choses made me feel as though I was engaged with the characters. All style and blammo.

#WickedForGood - obviously I am not the target demographic for this. The first part had only one decent song but did make me cry as we established the core relationship between Glinda and Elphaba at the OzDust ball. This part suffers for qbeing a downer and having to keep them apart for most of it.

#Nuremberg - trite, condescending, tonally jarring, 30 mins too long, and Rami Malek deeply annoying as always. I had feared that Russell Crowe playing a Tcherman would be embarassing but he was superb. The heart of the film is Leo Woodall and he is good. The British barrister was done dirty.
