The Mayor that hired a lobbyist as his temporary chief of staff would like you to believe that a lobbyist for the wealthiest family in the state didn’t impact this project.

Mayor Johnston, who has said that a lobbyist didn’t impact the decision to water down the Alameda safety project hired a lobbyist as his interim Chief of Staff.

Colorado law states that autonomous vehicle operators must comply with Colorado law to operate in our state. If @waymo.bsky.social breaks the law and has their cars illegally park in bike lanes, they shouldn’t be operating here.

Climate change is real and transportation is one of the top two causes of greenhouse gas emissions in Denver. It doesn’t care if the Mayor doesn’t want to ruffle feathers with wealthy donors. We continue to fight to give people the choice to bike, walk, or take transit in Denver.

2025 is the deadliest year for traffic crashes in Denver on record according to the city’s Vision Zero dashboard. When we say Mayor Johnston isn’t make safer streets a priority, the data backs it up.

As the Co-Chair of the DOTI Advisory Board, I’ve spoken to many board members that feel the board was lied to by Director Ford. It’s incredibly disappointing that trust has been broken with the Board and with the public.

What gets me about this choice is that this result of vast community outrage was so predictable. The city had finalized the project, it had 5+ years of planning behind it, and the Anschutzs are notoriously wealthy Republicans, Denver is deep blue. Did they really think people wouldn’t cry foul?

Denver scaled back a street safety project after pushback from the family of Colorado's wealthiest man. While the city told the public that construction was the hold up, @spencersoicher.bsky.social obtained internal city emails showing the issue was "high level" community concerns.
