"The solution to pedestrian deaths isn't "defensive walking" . . . but investment in public transit. Don't give us advice on how best to play Frogger on roads full of texting drivers, give us buses that give those drivers a safer place to text."

Suggesting that "by taking ownership of your safety, you are helping to create a safe system" without addressing any of the systemic issues mentioned, such as the fact that "many people get struck and killed in places without sidewalks," is deeply irresponsible.

DSP's Executive Director Jill Locantore talked to Denver7 about the City's excessive permitting requirements that make it difficult for community members to implement "school streets" aimed it making it safer for kids to walk and bike to neighborhood schools.
