I tutor a Ukrainian student who has been studying in London during the war. We have a mostly professional relationship-we talk about linguistics, not politics. Even though it seemed a little silly, I really felt like I had to start our last meeting with an apology. I'm so embarrassed of my country.

I just found out that Michelle Trachtenberg died, and it hit me in a weird part of my childhood.
