Anyone on here teach undergrad statistics and started integrating AI both for student use and for your teaching? Planning to spend the next month retooling our undergrad stats+methods series w responsible AI use. Have lots of ideas but curious what others have done. Please share!

Was the point of this supposed to be that most scientists aren’t rich? Probably had to be there 🤷 There is no universe where professors are blue collar. I know plumbers who make more than some starting faculty but their jobs and access to influence are way way different. I don’t see how this helps.

The narrative on old people being more likely to be fraud victims was tough to evaluate given how overtargeted they were for many years. Now seems tech is making it easier to target the young & ppl are now saying young adults are more susceptible. Anyone can be a victim. This is an all ages problem

When grad student TA, Joe Mikels, asked me if I’ve ever done research. I had no idea what that meant, and he said I should try helping with this emotion project between Fredrickson & Reuter-Lorenz labs. Also made me write my honors thesis when I wanted to quit & set me up for a post-bacc at Stanford

It was only a matter of time before the perennial academic debates made it to this platform. How will I ever figure out when it’s okay to send or read email?? Should we ask “my” students or the students in the lab? Or the students in “our” lab?

It’s not enough to have an open door. You have to stand outside of it and welcome people in. Thinking about this a lot across several teaching, research, and service initiatives this year. My mom raised me to always open the door for anyone - not a chivalry thing, a kindness thing.
