Because I am me, I have been delaying my first Heated Rivalry rewatch because I wanted to take detailed notes for possible fic-writing so I don't have to keep putting it on again to look up facts

my controversial opinion on rpf is that rpf is the part of celebrity fandoms i actually have less ethical qualms about because it’s framed as fictional. the posting in the belief that instead of fantasies these are truths about these people that you are just correctly perceiving is more worrisome

Thinking about Heated Rivalry and big juggernaut m/m ships of the past and it really is interesting how they’re basically all constructed from pairs of opposite traits that just get distributed differently

With Hockey RPF the fanfic was for the romance and the sex, the things canon didn't provide. But in Heated Rivalry canon does provide. So logic dictates that the fanfic is there to make them actually play hockey.
