Messing around building out homebrew network. Setup 3 regional edge epyc servers (sg, de, and us) today with tailscale private network and cloudflare tunnels for exposing services to internet. Leaning heavily on Claude code skills for setup.

Silicon Valley's lost decade: consumer ceded to aggregators, software "innovation" meant SaaSy CRUD for some vertical niche. We forgot software could be anything else. Infinite software means we can dream again.

Dearly lacking discourse in local-first... the prerequisites for "data ownership" is it must be freely addressable (e.g. via the file system) and one must be able to adversarially do things with it (e.g. open/ubiquitous formats).

Musk always planned to turn X into the super app but Apple stood in the way. When Musk got pally with Trump I hoped this would result in Apple being forced to open up more by regulators. Musk would get his way but in the process we would end up with Apple loosening their grip on iOS.
