The correspondence coming from the NIH reads as if it was written by high schoolers who had sort of read some of the background information, slapped it into a word doc and handed it off for us to interpret. Which takes 3x as long, involving sometimes several people, before we can act. Efficiency.

A scientist from my workplace was stopped on the street and questioned by ICE. Another is worried about being let back into the US after a family visit overseas. It's recommended by my workplace Visa holders carry copies of all identity and our lawyer's numbers. All good on the science front.

State Department has changed passport renewal terms. I just looked into this and couple days ago so I know it's changed. No longer in person option. Only in person if urgent travel within 14 days. Only can renew if current one has one year or less on it. Takes 6 weeks now, no expedited service.
