The ability for a single node to handle million+ connections should translate to how we architect systems. Many popular services can now run on a single node (including DB). This is why I am very bullish about services like

's side project an official project 5 days ago, and the growth curve on stars still looks vertical, only now slowing down a bit. Even better than stars, is that the project gained 10 more contributors.
