I try not to dwell on the fact that this is what happened. It’s still sickening to me what Ruby central did, that they have no conscience for the harm they’ve caused. I want to move forward, and ruby centrals view of the world is clearly obdurate and stuck in a miserable past.

I can’t think of an appropriate analogy to explain just how fucked up it is what Ruby Central did. It’s like... it’s like stealing pans from a soup kitchen. It’s disgusting. It’s parasitic. It’s exploitative. It’s betrayal. It’s the Red Wedding massacre in OSS, a safe haven turned against you.

So sad to see after four months, Ruby Central has still offered no explanation for their appalling behaviour. Anyone supporting them, sponsoring them, speaking at or attending their conferences can fuck right off.

Phlex::TUI now has layers. Popovers sit outside the main layout and render above it. It has z-index and basic anchor positioning allowing you to anchor a popover to an element in the main layout.

After an overwhelmingly positive response to the Phlex::TUI prototype I shared last week, I’ve started working on a production-ready implementation. Essentially Phlex::TUI will let you build terminal user interfaces the same way you build web views.

If GitHub’s leadership had any sense at all, they would consider this an existential emergency for the company. They would set up a new small team to build a GitHub competitor using modern tech and good engineering. You can’t keep polishing this turd.
