We are ready for the Galway West By-election 💪

Delighted that my nomination as Green Party Candidate for Galway West By-election has now been ratified by the executive. Looking forward to working with members and supporters in the campaign ahead.

Traffic in Dublin has gotten crazy the past few weeks. But the new government is taking money away from public transport projects that could deal with it. We could have had a new DART station and improved lines at Heuston and Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot. But no. Roads instead.

🌻 We are so proud of our 5 Green mayors of EU capital cities as they show the way for all cities in their countries and in Europe. 💚 Local elections have the most direct impact on our day-to-day. It starts at the local level and then spreads to national.

We won't always make popular decisions but at the very least we could make fair decisions. Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil would prefer to angrily shut down debate, rather than hear criticism of their rent hikes on the least well off while giving the maximum tax cut to homeowners.

This week I voted against Fine Gael’s proposal to increase: rents, car parking charges, and bring centre fees, in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Fine Gael councillors seemed confused about our party proposing to actually protect the most vulnerable and less well-off in our community.

From Metro to Dart+ South West to the Luas, this week has shown clearly how this Government is hell bent on sabotaging itself when it comes to providing sustainable Public Transport infrastructure for Ireland instead opting for more roads. #transport #luas #metro #dart @greenpartyie.bsky.social

Last night Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil balanced a €9m hole in our council’s budget, caused by giving a 15pc tax cut in Local Property Tax, by hiking council tenants rents and increasing car parking charges and green waste charges.

This was probably the biggest climate demonstration in Ireland since 2019-2020! A huge Green Party turnout at the National Climate March today to call on the government to stop the U-turns and get serious about climate action, nature restoration and ending fossil fuels.

I'm pleased to share that as of today, I will serve as the Chairperson of the Oireachtas Cross-Party Cancer Group - a group of TDs and Senators who work alongside the Irish Cancer Society to hear directly from cancer patients and fight to improve cancer services across the country (1/4)

Their emissions grew last year by 9% to 16 million tonnes of CO2, the most polluting airline in Europe. Media organisations make a choice to highlight their financials, but not their destruction of our stable climate.

💶 A couple of euro saved… a €10m hole in the budget. A majority of DLR councillors just voted to slash Local Property Tax by 15% — a token cut that’ll save the average homeowner €1–2 a week. Meanwhile, footpaths, bins, housing maintenance and community spaces will take the hit.

Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony has bravely stood up against Viktor Orbán's government and supported the organisers of Budapest Pride. Many of the events taking place this weekend are being hosted by his office. And he's a Green too 😊

A brief update ahead of tomorrow's Budapest Pride. While the parade itself is banned, we learned that up to 4 counter-marches have been granted licences and will take place along the route.

The new plans for College Green look great. It'll take political and public pressure to get it done - the Greens will be backing it all the way. We can build a better Dublin: we just need to keep pushing for it!

Yesterday we members of the Advisory of the National Action Plan Against Racism held a discussion with civil society on racism & met with the EU Commission Lead on Anti Racism Michaela Moua. The Government is failing in our fight against racism and needs to prioritise the implementation of the plan!
