Neuroscientist. Mostly useless.
Let’s hope. That program provides really important opportunities for undergrads to get real hands-on scientific experience. This is invaluable.

Feeling overwhelmed with all of this. LISTEN. Another Louisiana resident (Marshawn is the only name we have) testifies against the state’s racial gerrymander, speaking truth to power up and down the hearing room and predicts how this story will end. Speak your truth, fight and believe.

If the Supreme Court is concerned about its declining public legitimacy and thinks too many Americans are calling the Supreme Court illegitimate, the majority could try not issuing bad faith rulings that illegitimately distort law in pursuit of undemocratic partisan power. That’s always an option.

His efforts changed the direction of biomedical research and clinical medicine. He accelerated work in the human genome project, then engaged in an extensive, truly basic science approach to understand the marine genetic environment.

We are especially sensitive right now because the exact language scientists have used to call for potential reforms are now being used against as an excuse to completely destroy our labs. We're staring at thousands of labs potentially closing, many for good. That's not hyperbole.

🪰 In the 1930s, USDA paid scientists to study the sex life of the screwworm fly. Congress called it waste. Result: a $250K investment that eradicated a flesh-eating parasite from an entire continent, saved ranchers billions, and cut beef prices 5%. Still in use today.

I showed this graph in class yesterday on how measles cases in the United States plummeted dramatically after the vaccine was licensed in 1963. It’s not subtle and I could not resist observing: “This stunning design in measles cases was not thanks to vitamin A. It was not due to beef tallow.”
