It's also not so much that they're "hoarding" money -- most of it's "invested" in some form of economic activity -- it's that they're in control of where the money's directed, and it's "invested" in their priorities -- which are mostly bubbles, enshittification, and private equity asset-stripping...

btw this is also personal to me bc a lot of people (particularly those experiencing even low level psychosis) also don't like smartphones due to being terrified of being tracked. they literally don't trust them. (and they probably shouldn't lmao) they still deserve to be able to take the goddamn bus

Whenever anarchism — or any idea more radical than the status quo — gets dismissed as unserious, it's worth remembering the current system runs on things like "we put all the money on a scam machine that tells rich dipshits they're god."

I still don't get how people keep going "well, someone needs to be in charge" and like, no? Individual people especially. One teacher can barely handle a classroom of 30 students, how is one politician supposed to handle thousands or millions of people?

NEW VIDEO: One of the most common questions asked of anarchists is how anarchy intends to deal with the “bad people" in a world without authority. In this video, we'll explore some answers!

If the government shuts down, who will funnel our taxes to military contractors? Who will tap our phones, raid communities, and deport people? Unfortunately, the shutdown won't stop those. The real problem is that the shutdown doesn't go far enough. Make the shutdown comprehensive and permanent!

Anarchists: Government Shutdown Doesn't Go Far Enough
If the government shuts down, who will funnel our taxable income to military contractors? Who will tap our phones and read our email? Who will deport and imprison people? Whatever shall we do?

I think this is such an important book at this moment in time. It describes our current situation better than any other that I'm aware of. Collectively, and not just in the US, we are headed down a very dark path.

The complicity of the Communist Party of Nepal in the massacre that catalyzed this revolt should remind all aspiring revolutionaries that even if you have "communist" in the name of your party, you won't be able to solve the problems of capitalism simply by wielding the violence of the state.

There's No Such Thing as Revolutionary Government
You can’t abolish class society without abolishing the asymmetry between ruler and ruled. That means abolishing the state.

Insurrections occur in waves; the unrest in Indonesia has spread to Nepal. Whatever happens next, this revolt should give pause to politicians and police who imagine that they can pillage and terrorize with impunity. Today, money may insulate you from the consequences of your actions; but tomorrow?

Grover Cleveland made Labor Day an official holiday in order to sap momentum from May Day, the day of revolutionary resistance established by anarchists. But efforts to reform capitalism have failed. The gulf between the wealthy few and the rest of us is wider than ever today. We need a revolution.

Right. Is there a single pre-Durkheimian French social theorist taken seriously today? A whole century of thinkers have been relegated to the dustbin of history, despite their pivotal positioning as heirs to the failed French Revolution and as the originators of the concept of ‘social science’.
