New episode up! We talked with researcher Tim Gill about how we need to make our cities safe for children, not cars. "Children are basically living very captive and kind of contained lives, and that's just not healthy."

People act like getting kids places without a car is Herculean. I biked three (one not mine) to the Kingfield Farmers Market, 95% on bikeways. No car seats, no stress, just laughs. The challenge isn’t moving kids, it’s redesigning cities to work for people instead of cars.

Obviously I talk a lot about bike/ped safety. But something that is really crazy is how much less safe you *in a car* since 2010. In spite of all the additional safety technology, vehicle occupants are less safe today than they were 15 years ago.

After 3 years, the Stanley Park Mobility Study has been released. You can read it here:
parkboardmeetings.vancouver.ca/2025/2025091...
It is very, very underwhelming. A return of a separated bike lane is contemplated, but not specifically recommended, in the 7-15 year timeframe.
