Children’s librarian, bookseller, and mother to three chunky cats; forever behind on my TBR pile.
Conferences give me flashbacks to being in college - lots of people milling about with backpacks heading to specific locations…

Hard to think of a bigger 'fuck you' to the current state of American politics than Bad Bunny giving basically his entire acceptance speech for Album of the Year in Spanish after saying ICE out in an earlier speech a week before playing the Super Bowl.

Bad Bunny thanked his mom for having him in Puerto Rico, told the people on the island there's nothing they can't do, and dedicated his award to all Latinos and to immigrants who keep pushing forward with a lot of strength.

I understand people are anxious, but to them I would recommend a change of mindset. Whenever the thought "If there even ARE elections..." runs through your head, shove it aside and replace it with "They'll cancel elections over my dead body." The trick is you gotta mean it.

Just FYI, administrative warrants (like the ones used by ICE) are not judicial warrants (used by cops, signed by a judge). You do NOT legally have to open the door for an ICE officer with an administrative warrant *no matter what the ICE officer says.*

every so often I feel compelled to point out that interlibrary loan is a goddamn miracle. If you have a library card and can wait a little while, you can have in your hands just about any book you want.* just because there’s going to be another library out there that says “Sure, we’ll send it.” 📚

We need to keep talking about how weird it is for people to think they should have a say in reading choices for anyone's kids but their own. You're not in charge of what other people's children eat or wear or when they go to bed. Why on earth would you get to choose what they read?
