As an experiment, I asked chatGPT to summarise a really great paper I'd just read. It completely missed the main points of the paper. It took some keywords and turned them into reasonable sentences, but they did not relate to the paper, and they didn't really mean anything.

So a fossil fuel company that bought a CO₂ removal (CDR) startup for $1.1 billion plans to use the CO₂ captured from the atmosphere to get more oil out of the ground. It's…not great at all.

Our new paper, based on data from 1,705 studies, shows that pesticides are toxic to organisms they are not intended to harm, including fungi, microbes, plants, insects, & vertebrates such as ourselves. Questions the wisdom of applying over 3 million tonnes of them every year...
