Many of us who donāt work on space science directly were inspired to become scientists because of NASA. Also, about 30% of NASA's science budget is for Earth and climate science, and they run one of the global climate models that's used by the IPCC. What happens at NASA will affect all of us.

As an experiment, I asked chatGPT to summarise a really great paper I'd just read. It completely missed the main points of the paper. It took some keywords and turned them into reasonable sentences, but they did not relate to the paper, and they didn't really mean anything.
