Our Young Guides have explored wild journeys this year. As we prepare to welcome our second cohort, we are catching up with our very first group. Each of our Young Guides has found their own niche, from the White Stork Project and Wild Futures to the Adur River Recovery Project.

To lead the way in nature recovery, we need to know where we stand. The Adur River Recovery project is working with farmers and land managers across the catchment to build a blueprint for large-scale landscape restoration. Understanding its living foundations helps us restore it and guide others.

This Bank Holiday crowds flocked to Storrington to celebrate the return of white storks to our skies and the growing movement for community-led nature recovery! We marked a proud milestone: Knepp and Storrington becoming the UK’s members of the European Stork Village Network.

Weald to Waves are proud to support the #GreatUKWaterBlitz, sending water testing kits to citizen scientists in Kingston parish and the Greenhavens network. With over 3,800 WaterBlitz surveys submitted from 25-28 April, we’re excited to help build a clearer picture of water quality across the UK.

At Knepp spring woods bloom differently. In the rewilded ecosystem, bluebells are part of a wildflower patchwork; a sign of disturbance by large herbivores. Tamworth pigs mimic wild boar, disturbing soil where a host of plant species thrive. Instead of a bluebell carpet, the woodlands form a quilt.

The Weald to Waves team recently enjoyed a sunny day visiting the William Robinson Gravetye Charity in the northern part of the corridor. The charity manages William Robinson's estate, a pioneer in 'wild' gardening. They engage groups in nature education and habitat creation through work parties.

Cold morning yesterday, but warmed by partnerships at Wiston Estate! Ian Rogers and Gareth Williams from Weald to Waves met Penny Green, Wiston's new ecologist. The nearby Lapwing plot, funded by Farming in Protected Landscapes, is in its first year, aiming to boost lapwing and wader populations.
