Please do not fall into the trap of thinking that a side project should be "useful". The only purpose of a side project is to be enjoyed. Perhaps you enjoy making it, or maybe you enjoy using it once it's finished, but always remember that the joy itself is the goal.

Currently building a mod that adds computers to Minecraft. They will be programmable with WASM with first-party support for Rust. I'm using the awesome Monocraft font made by @idreesinc.com in order to support over 1000 characters! github.com/TheBlckbird/... (PR that adds this is still WIP)

I need to show everyone this little plugin for Obsidian MD by @idreesinc.com Basically, it adds a Bird (or Birb if that's your preference) to your markdown editor. It flutters about, accepts pets, and drops feathers to unlock more birbs, outfits, etc. This, and Excalidraw are must haves.

Somehow I only just discovered gifcities.org, a search engine by the Internet Archive that gives you all of the gifs used in old GeoCities websites! @archive.org

No wonder the @obsidian.md plugin review queue is like 6 months long, it looks like there is a new plugin being submitted every hour now! Looking at the commits, each one is generated with AI in like a couple of days. I feel for the poor plugin reviewers who have to deal with that...

I've been saving the first money I earned from writing to spend on something entirely unnecessary and joyful, and yesterday I used it to see Return of the King performed by the SF Symphony. It was absolutely wonderful and I feel like my 12 y/o self would've been very proud (maybe a little jealous).

The entire reason that Pocket Bird doesn't have a way to pick the bird up like with other desktop pets is because I can't figure out how you would even pick up a bird with a cursor.

I have thousands of anonymous letters to review for @acmail.idreesinc.com which is an insane amount, but they are so full of kindness and love that it is honestly a great problem to have 💌 Still, this is going to take forever!

It’s concerning how quickly someone can just “vibe clone” an entire open-source project and call it their own, all while escaping the original license. How is a human dev supposed to compete when it takes hundreds of hours to make something by hand and a day to tastelessly copy it?

On the bright side, it is very satisfying watching the map warp as I add anchor points to match the Minecraft coordinates with real world locations!
