"Galactic Friendship" (2020). This one is different from all the other Sovcat posters, as it went very much in a sci-fi direction. It imagines a propaganda response to the cat world meeting aliens. The aliens are portrayed as sphynx cats as I always thought they looked similar...

We all know that ACAB means all cats are beautiful. But did you know it has another meaning? It's the UC(ACAB), Upright Cats Action Committee Against Bigotry. "ACAB" (2020) is based on a poster design by Kudryashova created in 1981.

Setting up for Ottawa Comiccon. How did all this fit together again?

Sometimes I take on a traditional pet portrait. Here's a new portrait in acrylic on wood panel for a patron who commissioned some portraits many years back.

At the start of the pandemic I made some on theme sovcat posters. The first was "Paw Wash" (2020) based on the 1931 public health poster "Wash your hands after work and before eating." I imagine that convincing cats that the widespread practice of licking paws clean was not best practice...

After a brief pause, shipping to the US from my Etsy shop has resumed with some big pricing changes to the costs of shipping. I thought it would be good for US fans to better understand the additional costs going on in the background to give some details about these changes.

I haven't posted in some time because of shows and other business but back to sharing the sovcat series of posters with "Paws Steady - Claws Ready" (2019). Based on the civil war period artwork "One must work, the rifle is close by" (1919-1921) by Lebedev.

Appropriate that the next poster to show is "NO!" (2019). It's done in a style reminiscent of the early soviet period and largely speaks for itself in message. "NO!" is also an original painting hanging here in my studio (that is available if anyone is interested).

For All Aboard! (2019) I imagine the Cat Transit Workers had commissioned this poster in the 1970's as part of the transit expansion and modernization campaigns - a transit system the people can take pride in. When the people control the wealth and set the agenda great things can happen.

"Red Paw Bats'Em off the High Shelf" (2019). This one goes a little under the radar as a cat poster because it is abstract but the red cat is there batting the opposition down from its high place....

"Cat Star Union" (2018). The design of this one is based on an iconic 1960's space poster, my iteration featuring, of course, a very enthusiastic cosmonaut cat.

I touched up and coloured this drawing to turn it into more of a complete poster. I liked the graphic work and less refined drawing enough that I didn't change much. It's quite a powerful drawing.

"We Shall Beat Our Swords Into Plowshares and Study War No More" (2018) is the first sovcat poster to have its design not based on an existing, human-historical poster. Inspiration is drawn rather from the statue by Vuchetich gifted to the UN by the USSR in 1959.

The original acrylic painting titled Mushroom Hunting sold at the show last weekend. It is great to have things sell and wonderful that someone likes something so much they want the original in their place. It's still strange to see these little creations go.

"Red Dot" (2018) - keep chasing friends; we'll get it!

Did an ink drawing poster today. A bayonet is a weapon with a working cat at either end. A quote attributed to revolutionary John Maclean in opposition to WWI and workers slaughtering one another for imperialism. The whole slogan is from the song "Don't Sign Up For War."

"Industry - To Free Time and Enrich Life" (2018) It's simple, so simple! Oh can't you see? All of our industry should help us be free.
