#snake A friend of mine just got back from Costa Rica. This is an eyelash viper. Apparently they like to hang out on handrails. 😜 She told me she stopped using all handrails. Not as venomous as our Arizona rattlers but can still do a lot of damage. 🐍

Saw this sign posted in a nearby Tucson park yesterday. We have a herd of about 15 running through our neighborhood now, it's their desert and they can easily be left alone to do their own thing. Yet even with warnings, people let their little dogs off the leash. It scares the hell out of me. 😔

#cats Just 30 minutes ago, a visiting bobcat getting a drink. This may be a young female who has stashed her 2 kittens nearby. She returns annually to a neighbor's house across the wash from us to have her kittens behind their water harvesting tank where they feel safe. Always so good to see her. 😸

#cats Doing my weekly volunteer gig with senior cats heartsthatpurr.org & the warm weather is making everyone sleepy. Our little blind girl Freya was pretty perky. Mr. Bittles was a couch potato or on my lap wanting to be brushed. It's going to be a tough summer. These guys are shedding like crazy.

#javalina We just had the largest herd come through in 11 years here. 16 of them, including young from a week old to toddlers to teenagers to almost adults. They're popping them out year round now. Can you find the baby butt? There are quite a few in the background too.

#cats My Monday volunteer gig at heartsthatpurr.org. A very nice company called KitNip sends cat toys to our seniors. While they appreciate the toys sometimes it's the box they want the most. This is Mr. Bittles and he slept in it for 2 hours. He's such a handsome boy don't you think?

#bird A friend who lives nearby annually has a hummingbird family in his bougainvillea right outside the kitchen window. Should be little babies soon. 💕

#birds Mama coot with her little guy swimming at Danny Lopez Park in west Tucson. We don't get too many exciting waterfowl at this park, but the coots and mallards are pretty dependable and there is safe nesting area for them all.

#javalina This is why we can't have nice things. A herd of 14 with adults, babies and teenagers lumbering through. Watch on the right side, they're still coming even as the video stops. They knock my prickly pear over and eat the pads. We put out water for everybody but they can be destructive. 😔🌵

#water If you live where it's dry, but even if you don't, there are terrific techniques for capturing rainwater and using every last drop. Brad's a good guy and a legend in Tucson for what he's done growing a neighborhood oasis in the middle of the urban area. 🌵 🌿

First, these guys illegally took Tucson water for dust control and a sharp neighbor questioned it and City of Tucson had that water source shut down. Now Pima County is cracking down on them for lack of dust control. This is how to do it, make it impossible for them to continue.

#bird #desert A very exciting visitor to our feeders, a black-headed grosbeak. There's a pair that come around randomly and are now daily since they found the sunflower only feeder! They are aggressive toward the house finches but cowed by the curve- billed thrashers. Bird of the day here!!😍

They were caught because an attentive neighbor questioned where the water was coming from in the trucks going into the site! NEVER underestimate what you can do as a citizen to stand up to things you know are wrong! ONE person push the domino that stopped this.

#drought Another trip up to Phoenix because Medicare no longer covers telehealth appointments. 😡 There's a new sign up at the rest stop halfway up on I-10 about extreme fire danger. Haven't seen this sign here before. It's so dry outside things look crisp.

#coyotes In the desert wash behind us a den of coyotes has taken up residence. It looks like these guys are heading to their group howling session. We think there's at least four of them that frequent the area there and they show up on our wildlife cameras virtually everyday 😊

#desert #cactus #bloom Our 30-ft saguaro is blooming with a beautiful crown of flowers on the top, lots of bees, wish I could get a better picture. Just noticed a male quail sitting on top of our weather station calling to his fam. And the hummingbirds are out too but they move too fast. 😊
