What a busy week! Marking finished, finally watched Cranford (cosy & heart-wrenching), Agatha Christie book finished. As we navigate 'interesting times', today was a welcome breath of fresh air. I got to spend time watching some of this year's Poetry by Heart competition submissions for the Classic category. Such a joy and privilege to be part of the shortlist judging. Their performances were a credit to them.

I've been thinking a lot about why the DfE guidance feels so wrong and I reckon it's because it ignores the role of intrinsic motivation in *wanting* to learn to write.
