Love this. ‘Queue’ is from the French word with the same spelling (but pronounced as ‘kuh’) meaning an animal’s long tail. In the 18th and 19th centuries it also referred to a pigtail and was sometimes spelled as ‘cue’, which gave us the name of the long thin rod used in snooker.

I'm getting back to teaching on Outschool a few hours a week. I'm running very small-group online Story Mentoring with some of my old students, who are now aged 9-13. I've been away from online educating for a whole year, but this idea really excited me - a bespoke dynamic curric of tales!

I did a TEDx talk about how we interact. It’ll be out soon. It’s titled: Hush now, adults… the children are talking More than anything that may or may not result from it being out in the world, it’s been *so* impactful to have had to condense what I care about into something concise.

We didn’t realise at the time that we would be the last week of students hosted at the college. Schumacher College left its mark on me indelibly, and the decision was made to close it during our stay. It’s a unique place of learning and I look forward to its rebirth in some form.

It’s the start of a new school year for those in UK education. 14th year a teacher for me! Have a good day, everyone.

Really enjoying this week of thoughtful study and community - I’m at Schumacher College in Devon, learning alongside interesting people from Thailand, Japan, China, Belgium, Netherlands. Trees, reflection, ecology/economy, education, postcolonialism, learning from nature.

Last day on my writing retreat in North Wales. It’s been super productive and enjoyable. Down to Devon tomorrow for eco-pedagogy retreat. Odd but pleasant life.
