This whole #blueskyblackout2025 thing is not going to work. A handful of people leaving for a couple days will not do anything but exactly what bsky wants you to do: Shut up about the stupid ToS they have. You need to complain on here instead. Be loud. Be present. Be an absolute pain in the ass.

I'm seeing a lot of "Where are we going to move to?" discourse today, and I cannot stress this enough: this isn't a Bluesky thing, it is a centralised social media thing. It will happen everywhere you move to unless you move to a decentralised model and accept the challenges that come with them.

Bsky, we can't lean into a future where regulating social media means blanket rules that enforce unwanted censorship. The responsibility needs to be on the creator to label, and on the consumer to filter out the unwanted based on it. Not on gradually eliminating more and more content altogether.
