Seeing another post lamenting US TV doesn't do 26 episode seasons for most things any more is always going to be funny to me because, having read so many books on the making of things like 90s Trek, it's very clear the people making those shows fucking hated that system at the time.

While I wholeheartedly agree about the state of current Star Trek, I'll feel that Star Wars accolades analogy is rather hollow. The Mandalorian won a shitload of Emmys, while being very similar to SNW: a feel-good light plotted action show for those, who miss how it was done in the old days.

Feeling really conflicted about SNW. I’m glad that people are noticing and taking seriously the shows regressive streak that’s existed since S1. But I wish this wasn’t happening to a Star Trek series.

Absolutely. I'll always defend post-TBoBW Borg stories! If we'd stop there, we'd be left without "I, Borg", "Scorpion", "Drone", "Dark Frontier" and "First Contact" movie. All of them are in my ST absolute favorites list.

SNW doesn't have to stop being fun, but I hope before it's over that it'll better deliver the more substantive elements that've made Star Trek endure as a franchise. I'd like to see it end on a high note before the torch is (presumably) passed to Star Trek: Year One.

The main thing that frustrated me in holodeck episode was this fake show, that was nothing like TOS, except maybe that it looked goofy and some actors had a lot of hubris. These are like the least interesting things you can say about Star Trek, and they have nothing to do with fake-Uhura's speech.

The five albums that have had the biggest influence on my life: 1. Aria - Hero of Asphalt (1987) 2. Deep Purple - The Battle Rages On... (1993) 3. Iron Maiden - Brave New World (2000) 4. Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards (1972) 5. Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side (1995)

My problem with #StrangeNewWorlds is exactly about balance. Being distinctly episodic it could easily do every kind of story: an entertaining adventure with light plot one week, then thought-provoking hard hitting personal drama the next. Yet it clearly focuses on easygoing general audience content.

IMO Boimler's rant from Reflections is actually one of the most sincere and profound attempts on self-reflection Star Trek ever got. I love this episode, the main plot about Rutherford is superb. TOP-5 overall in #StarTrekLowerDecks youtu.be/nGzVqjAEACo?...

I think Paramount Skydance should bring back the Hugo Award winning Lower Decks for a sixth season, but that’s just me.

But of course this song isn't about some silly sci-fi stuff like Star Trek of whatnot. It's an allegory of artist's struggle with necessity to adhere to genre definitions and need to appease fans and critics. So yeah, of course it's about Star Trek.

Lower Decks's Crisis Point II is such a beauty of a Star Trek episode! A great example of making a nostalgic story with fan service, yet rethinking it, trying to get the thing into new places and succeeding.
