Slayer. “War Ensemble.” 1990. This band will forever owe a debt to Dave Lombardo. Right here, musically speaking, these riffs are actually quite ‘basic’ — let’s not mince words, aaaall the MAGIC is in the drum line. Case in point: if you *don’t* have Lombardo here, this entire song turns vanilla.
